Get Back To Basics

Have you ever run into challenges after you have lost a significant amount of weight? Remember how elated you were when you got close or even reached your goal? Then, before long, life returned to the way it used to be and you forget to eat a scheduled meal, or perhaps you didn’t allow enough time to eat at that slower pace.  Maybe the stress of life happened and you went back to food for comfort.


Perhaps you’re following your doctor’s orders, but you’re beginning to fantasize about those bad foods. Perhaps the dog, cat, spouse, children, work, or all of the above have now become more important than your own health, happiness and continued success.  If you can relate to any of the above, I’m talking to you!


When you feel like you have hit a fork in the road, take a moment and reflect back to the time you found out you had just been approved for surgery and how excited you were.  Then think about how great you felt when you released all that weight and the determination you had to follow your bariatric program's protocol. 


Often, after reaching your goal you feel that life just can’t get better.  Without realizing it you begin to get complacent and perhaps stop measuring your food.  Possibly you skip a meal. Maybe you return to eating and drinking at the same time. Perhaps you are not drinking enough water.  Movement... are you getting up and moving or just sitting most of your day.   


Most importantly, don’t beat yourself up.  We are human and sometimes life just gets in our way; but, it doesn’t mean you can’t get back on track.  There has never been a better time than today to reconnect with your bariatric program.  We want you to have continued success.
