Dr. Collin Brathwaite is a board certified general surgeon. He is the Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at Winthrop-University Hospital. He also leads Winthrop Surgical Associates. His experience and knowledge in the field of bariatric and metabolic surgery has made him one of the most sought after surgeons in the New York and tri-state area.
Dr. Brathwaite has received numerous awards and honors in the field and regularly contributes to medical journals, books, and other publications. He is a seasoned lecturer and presenter at various national and international conferences and regularly trains other surgeons on advanced, minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Dr. Brathwaite is licensed to perform surgery in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Maryland. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS).
Dr. Alex Barkan is a board certified general surgeon and an integral part of our bariatric surgery program. He specializes in both traditional laparoscopic surgical procedures and robotically assisted minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Barkan joined the Winthrop Surgical Weight Loss program in 2008 after practicing in Pennsylvania and finishing an extensive fellowship training with a pioneer in the field of bariatric surgery.
Dr. Barkan stays current with the latest advances in bariatric surgery through his writing and contributions to various books and publications, as well as oral and poster presentations on topics such as cardiac care, neurologic surgery, and otoplasty. He is dedicated to continuing education and evaluating emerging surgical techniques such as robotic surgery and single incision surgery.
Dr. Barkan is licensed to perform surgery in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Dr. Keneth Hall is the newest member of the Winthrop Surgical Associates bariatric surgery team. He is a skilled general and bariatric surgeon specializing in minimally invasive procedures.
After his medical training and completing his residency, Dr. Hall completed his fellowship under the direction of our very own Dr. Collin Brathwaite. Since then he has presented at numerous conferences and meetings throughout the country.
Dr. Hall is no stranger to Winthrop as he already performed several clinical rotations during his surgical training. According to Dr. Brathwaite, Chief of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Fellowship Program Director and Mentor, Dr. Hall has distinguished himself as a skilled and compassionate surgeon throughout his residency and fellowship.
