THINK Lean. ACT Lean… GET Leaner.

By Barb Brathwaite, RN MSN CS

Step 1: Think Lean

Think positive.
When we think positive, we can create positive feelings and then positive behaviors follow.  When we think positive, we bring positive energy into our lives. When we think positive, we are empowered.

We can do it!

Get rid of negative self-talk.
Turn off the negative tapes. We are our biggest enemy! Change your thoughts to change your bad habits. Play the positive tapes. Play the tapes where you envision yourself as a success. Picture a leaner version of yourself. You can do it! It will happen.

Believe in yourself.  Think about all your accomplishments. Focus on the things you have done in your life. This will help build self confidence and motivate you to get out of your comfort zone. Take risks. Empower yourself. Believe in a leaner you. You can do it.

Step 2: Act Lean

Act in a positive way.  Act lean which will help you reach your goals. Make friends with people who have the same weight loss goals and work out together. Act lean.

Try classes that look interesting.  Join groups. Get out of isolation and into the world. You may be surprised by the people you meet and the interests you discover. Relationships are very important in life. The support is very beneficial.

Don’t be afraid to fail.  Ask yourself, am I afraid to fail?  Are you afraid of what other people will think if you fail?  Failure is a part of life. We all fail at things. We all make mistakes. The important thing is to not let it control your thoughts. Accept failure and learn from it. And move on. It’s ok if you have not been successful with weight loss in the past. Accept it and move on. Act lean. Be courageous.

Step 3: Get Leaner

You will find that as you start thinking more positively, your behavior will follow, and you will be getting leaner! Visualize your happiness. Visualize yourself leaner.
